The device used is called a Therma CAM 390 short wave cooled imaging system.
Manufactured by FLIR Systems, this equipment has the extended range filter assembly, and is able to survey temperatures from minus 4 to 2732 degrees Fahrenheit, or Celsius scale if you prefer.
